On the one hand, it's ironic that in this world that values "the real thing" over knock-offs, imitation fur is more valuable than real fur. Perhaps some folks would say this represents progress, in that anti-fur campaigns have succeeded in raising public awareness, and even in getting legislation passed.
But the cats & dogs whose very real fur, apparently stripped of them while fully conscious, might feel differently. Their fur masquerades as fake fur, because it is not even as valuable a commodity as fake fur. Somehow, that doesn't seem any more respectful than before.
