Whaling ban is going to be lifted!

well it doesn't look like i can get access to the rest of the forum at the moment, so i'll just post my concerns here. As you may know a ban against whaling has been in place for the past 24 years, however, on the 21st June Agadir, Morocco the International Whaling Commission (IWC) will begin the process of voting on whether to lift the ban and potentially open the floodgates to whaling across the ...

Friends of Animals

I saw a post here about Friends of Animals but now I can't find it. Anyway, sorry for posting here. There is a lawsuit in the works against this organization in CT and I am trying to gather contacts who will help with the case. If anyone here knows about this organization, knows the director Priscilla Feral or Lee Hall, then I need to speak with you. You can choose to be anonymous or give ...

As for veganism being a single issue campaign

Animal Rights: The Abolitionist Approachach wrote:A single-issue campaign involves identifying some particular use of animals or some form of treatment and making that the object of a campaign to end the use or modify the treatment. The problem of a single-issue campaign is that it presents some particular use or treatment as morally distinguishable from other forms of use or treatment and by doing so explicitly or implicitly suggests that other forms of exploitation are morally ...

What does it mean to be a Vegan abolitionist?

It is become a new trend to describe oneself as a vegan abolitionist. But what does this really mean?
Does anyone have a closing definition for it?
It sounds catchy but what content does it have?

irony of fur

I try to check out all the links people post on the regular ARCO forum, and I came across one about the cat/dog fur trade. It said that manufacturers were labeling their items as using imitation fur but using real fur b/c of the lower cost.

On the one hand, it's ironic that in this world that values "the real thing" over knock-offs, imitation fur is more valuable than real fur. Perhaps some folks would ...

Green Murder

12th of February, 2010
The following article is unfinished, but I had to post it today because my local newspaper published an article about the supposed "ethics" of "excluding all meat except kangaroo ."

The title of this essay is intentionally provocative. It is hoped, however, that the arguments and conclusions that follow will prove to ...

Veganism and sex/love

There's Anarchism and sex/love article on Wikipedia, and i thought it would be a good idea to start a similar article with relation to veganism. It should mention Vegan Sexuality and different approaches, as well as discuss the ethics of the relationship in relation to veganism.

I would be interested to hash out some ideas here before starting on it, however. So what do you people think?

Accidentally vegan groups

I'd like to say that one of the best things that happens to me as a vegan is when groups are 'accidentally vegan'. What i mean is that nobody actively promotes a group as a vegan one, but somehow in the seemingly unrelated area of discourse a group is composed of primarily vegans (or at least very vegan friendly) people.

Of course, it's also disheartening when it's the other way around; or when vegan groups ...

vegan cats & dogs: abolitionists weigh in!

So I found yet another "is it OK to feed dogs a vegetarian diet" thread (on ARCO, in fact). I know the typical range of answers, but I was wondering if the abolitionist average would be different.

Thoughts?
