vegan cats & dogs: abolitionists weigh in!

So I found yet another "is it OK to feed dogs a vegetarian diet" thread (on ARCO, in fact). I know the typical range of answers, but I was wondering if the abolitionist average would be different.

Thoughts?

Well, for me 'is it ok to feed' is a clear yes, the more difficult one is when people try to restrict the diet of 'their' pets. As i do not yet know my own position to that i would have to say that if i'd find myself in some way responsible for a non-human animal, i'd try to feed one vegan food, but (if that animal is naturally carnivorous like cat or dog) i'd not panic if somebody else offers something that isn't vegan.

Feeding cows, etc. ground up carcasses (sp?) of diseased animals, which is done in factory farming, is way out of line.
May all the sentient beings benefit from our communication
