Abolitionist Literature

In case you haven't read it yet, don't miss the latest entry on the Peaceful Prairie Sanctuary blog:

Just Before Dawn http://peacefulprairie.blogspot.com/

Nothing touches and moves me as deeply as Joanna Lucas's writing about nonhumans; to me, it is unrivalled in the beauty of its language and its power to reveal the preciousness of each of the beings to whom it is devoted. Thank you, Joanna.

Thanks for posting this, Karin. It's a long entry, but well worth the read for how it captures the individuality in a moving way (as you said).

Yes, I use some of her entries to capture the attention and compassion of people who don't usually think about non-humans. I even forwarded some to my writing instructor, because the writing is so beautifully profound and complex. I also have read passages at open-mic evenings in my community.
